Safer Parking Scheme

The Safer Parking Scheme was launched by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) in 2004. The scheme is part of a family of Secured By Design initiatives that aim to reduce crime and fear of crime in all car parks and vehicle retention facilities. The Safer Parking Scheme encourages those responsible for car parks to improve security standards Safer parking status—Park Mark®—is awarded to parking facilities that meet the requirements of a risk assessment conducted by trained police assessors.

For customers, using a Park Mark® Safer Parking facility it means that the car park has been inspected by the Police and has measures in place to create a safe and secure environment.

The Safer Parking Scheme is managed by the British Parking Association (BPA) and supported by the Home Office and Scottish Government.
